Classic Thunder Racing Series<\/strong><\/h5>\n

On behalf of our club members and sponsors, welcome to the fun and exciting world of\u00a0Classic Thunder 1\/10th Scale Electric Hydroplane Racing.\u00a0 For over 20\u00a0years now we\u2019ve been sharing the thrills of fast electric racing in communities throughout Western Washington.\u00a0 Our models are fashioned exclusively after real unlimited hydroplanes, so many of which have graced the waters of nearby Lake Washington and other venues over the last half century.\u00a0 Most of us grew up watching their huge roostertails fly as they battled for the Gold Cup and Seafair trophies right here in our own back yard.\u00a0 We as members share a passion for the hydros, their history and the hobby that brings us all together.\u00a0 Each race gives us a chance to celebrate our common fascination with the boats and to satisfy our collective \u201cneed for speed\u201d.<\/p>\n

In Division 1 competition, our goal is to bring back a piece of hydroplane racing\u2019s \u201cGolden Era\u201d from the 1950\u2019s and 60\u2019s.\u00a0 At the same time, we intend to make a little history of our own.\u00a0 This \u201cvintage\u201d class of racing is the essence of Classic Thunder\u2019s origin.\u00a0 However, we also strive to keep one foot in the present day and look ahead to a bright future with a class of more powerful, more contemporary boats.\u00a0 Division 2 is made up of replicas modeled after boats primarily from the 1970\u2019s through the mid 1980’s.\u00a0 We started this “more modern” class in 2001 and revised it in 2013 with the introduction of Division 3. \u00a0Division 3 racing started in 2013 when we decided to separate the modern “open cockpit” boats from the “closed canopy” modern boats that we’ve seen since the mid 1980’s.<\/p>\n

We invite you to ask any questions you may have and are always interested in helping others get more information about what we do.\u00a0 We enjoy putting on a good show and entertaining spectators of all ages.\u00a0 This season, and many to come, will no doubt bring with it more fabulous Classic Thunder racing action.\u00a0\u00a0 Come join the fun!<\/p>\n
